This is a good quality Star Anise, but I found too many broken pieces in my pack. They come in a resealable bag, which is good for keeping everything fresh, but may have contributed to the broken pieces that I found. Apart from that, it seems to be good quality, it's got that nice aniseed smell, and it seems fresh. The price is a little on the high side, but not terrible.

I got this for cooking, and it seems to be on par with some of the better star anise I’ve purchased in the past.I mostly use it for soups, curries, and desserts, though I am interested in using it to make my own tea blends. I just haven’t gotten around to that quite yet.I’m not sure if it’s the same for other people, but my bag had a lot of broken bits in the bottom. That suited me fine because I tend to grind it up to make a powder. But I know some people would be upset by the amount of bits and dust there were in the bottom of my bag. I don’t actually think this was the fault of the seller though. Mine didn’t come with much protection, if you know what I mean.As far as the taste of this star anise? It has a rich, deep flavor that I enjoyed in the dishes I’ve used it in so far. It’s pretty potent, so a little goes a long way. And I have to say that the price isn’t bad, especially with the current sales price being under $6 for a little over two ounces.
I used the star anise from this package to make a whole pot of pho soup stock and these pods were really good quality, I only saw a couple broken pieces in the whole package. The pods were large in size and had amazing depth of flavor and aroma of good quality star anise. I could taste the difference between these star anise and my old ones that have gotten a bit more stale, the flavor is more pronounced and has a more rich, warm spice of what I had been missing before. It's a great value for high quality, fresh star anise.
