Great flavor, contains salt

It's delicious but it definitely contains salt, when the description says it doesn't. However, the flavor and aroma are great. It's good value! Just be aware there is salt.

BAZARBUL Pure Sumac Spice Powder

This comes in a resealable container that actually does a good job resealing. When I opened it, the sumac, it smelled very fresh and has a dark red color. It tastes a bit sour. The one thing that I found very odd was that it says "no salt added" and the nutrition label also claims there is 0mg of salt. But the ingredients list says "up to 6% salt to preserve freshness". So which is it?

ground sumac

This sumac powder is aromatic and fresh tasting with a lightly sour flavor that works well on many dishes. it's commonly used in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine but can be used on anything that could use a lightly sour addition. I personally like to use it on kebabs and Mediterranean based salad dressings. The powder is finely ground and a deep brick red color. I appreciate that the ingredients is just ground sumac with no added preservatives or fillers.$11.99 for a 4oz package is very reasonable. It is sizable and should last me a long time. The packet is resealable, but I transferred it to a glass jar to maintain freshness and for ease of storage.

Salt added despite, despite the title listing

I cook a few middle-eastern dishes which use large amounts of ground sumac, and the tiny bottles at the supermarket can get pricey. I was hoping this would be a good source, but I'm not super happy with it.First, the label states that it contains up to 6% salt, despite the listing's claim that there is "no salt added". If the ingredients don't match the listing, that's a big red flag for me.I'm not an expert, but I have used sumac quite a bit - and while this does have the sour taste that I'd expect, there's also a distinct salty note tasting it straight from the bag. I also noticed that when I cooked with it there were fairly big flakes of something getting stuck in my teeth, which doesn't happen with my usual brand. I'm not sure if it's just a matter of how it's ground, but between the salt and the texture, my dish came out significantly worse than usual.I don't think I'll be sticking with this brand. It's cheaper, but as they say the proof of the pudding is in the eating - and this didn't eat very well.

Smell and taste authenticity!

Received this BAZARBUL Sumac powder and im very pleased with the quality.Powder comes in a 4oz generously sized resealable bag which is perfect for dipping in spoon and closing it right back to preserve freshness.I love how authentic this smells and tastes. It really adds a lil kick of flavor to many dishes and it also has some great health benefits.Consistency is that of thick milled powder. Its not super fine but not chunky either. Price is super affordable too.Overall very pleased with this product and even more that it comes from Turkey.

Fresh Sumac

This is a small package of sumac powder. It is well sealed to keep in the freshness. When I opened the bag the powder has an interesting earthy scent. The powder tastes kind of sour, and gives the food you season with it a sour-lime taste. The expiration date is 2 years away, so it'll last a while. It is made in Turkey, and has no preservatives, additives or fillers. It does say it has up to 6% added salt for freshness, so I'm not sure what the "no salt added" is for in the description. It is a dark brown-red color, and is a little grainy. The price is very reasonable.

Fine Ground Sumac With a Clean, Fresh Taste

This sumac spice powder has a fine, even texture, and it blends smoothly without clumping when I use it. When I taste it in salads and cooked vegetables, I notice a tangy, lemon-like flavor that feels bright and balanced. The powder smells fresh, and the aroma stays lively with regular use. I also appreciate that the ingredient list stays simple. When cooking, I find that the seasoning enhances flavor well, even when I use it in smaller amounts. For the quality and freshness, I think this offers good value.

Sour Power: This Sumac Isn't Playing Around

I've been using sumac regularly for a while now, and this BAZARBUL Pure Sumac Spice Powder is definitely high quality. I really appreciate how bright and vibrant the flavor is. It doesn't taste dusty or old at all. The flavor profile is spot on, offering a clean, slightly fruity note with that distinct lemon zest quality I look for. This spice has become an everyday staple for me. It adds a crucial layer of acidity that vinegar or straight lemon juice just can't replicate. It’s fantastic sprinkled liberally over roasted vegetables or mixed into simple salad dressings. It works wonders rubbed onto chicken before grilling too. If you're looking for zesty flavor, this seasoning certainly delivers.

Great spice for chicken, beef, and lamb to add a Mediterranean flair

The resealable bag of pure ground Sumac from Bazarbul contains 4 oz (112 g), which is a generous amount. The powder is very finely ground, and the quality appears to be good.Sumac is common in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking, and it is a spice I really like. It adds a subtle, lemony taste. It is also versatile because it can either be used as a rub or can be sprinkled on. I personally like using it as a rub.You can use it on different types of meats like beef, poultry, or lamb, and even on fish or on top of salads. One thing I want to point out is that while the product is allergen free and nut-free, the manufacturer discloses that it is produced in a facility that also processes tree nuts. This is not a problem for me.Overall, I think this is a quality product. Given the generous amount, versatility, and price point, I think it is a really good value. I am happy to have this in my pantry for the upcoming grilling season.

Sumac Spice Powder

I ordered and received the BAZARBUL Pure Sumac Spice Powder, 4 oz. I find it economical to purchase spices in a pouch and then transfer them to my own jars. This sumac is nice and fresh tasting. I like to use it on fish because sumac has a lemony taste. I found the quality of this sumac to be good. It is a little moister than I like my spices to be. Using a shaker to disperse the sumac works well enough though.

Bright, Tangy Flavor That Elevates Everything

First ImpressionsThis sumac arrived in a simple resealable pouch, and the color immediately stood out to me. It’s a deep reddish-purple that looks fresh and vibrant, which is exactly what I expect from good quality sumac. The powder itself is finely ground and smells pleasantly citrusy right out of the bag.Testing ExperienceI’ve been using this for about a week now on a few different dishes—sprinkled over roasted vegetables, mixed into a quick marinade for chicken, and even added to salads. The flavor is beautifully tangy with a lemony brightness that adds a nice pop without being overpowering. It’s especially great when you want acidity without adding actual lemon juice.Pros & ConsPros:Bright, tangy flavor that enhances lots of dishesFresh color and aroma that indicates good qualityFinely ground texture that blends well into marinades and seasoningsConvenient resealable bag keeps it freshCons:The pouch works fine, but I personally like transferring spices like this into a glass jar for easier shaking while cookingFinal TakeawayIf you enjoy Mediterranean or Middle Eastern flavors—or just want a new spice that adds a citrusy kick—this is a great one to keep in the pantry. The flavor is fresh, versatile, and easy to use. I’ll definitely keep using it and would happily buy it again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

great for affordable spice refills

Spices in stores are so expensive lately it's nice to be able to buy in bulk like this for half the price, if not more depending on where you shop. While the bag does reseal, I use this bag to refill my existing spice jars and create spice mixes in other containers with some of it. It tastes, smells, and looks like it should. It's a new staple in my kitchen with it's subtle lemony smell/flavor. It feels like whole-foods quality and I would buy this again!

A good tang for Middle Eastern cooking

This spice powder has a nice, bright smell right when I first opened it up. It's got a distinct lemony kind of scent, but it's not overwhelming. The powder itself is a deep, dull red color, almost burgundy, and it feels like a fine grind, which mixes into food easily without being dusty. Here's what I found when cooking with it. The flavor gives a good tangy kick, kind of like a milder lemon or even a berry. It adds a subtle acidity to dishes, which is good for brightening up heavier flavors. I've been putting it on baked chicken, and it makes a simple meal feel a bit more special.I also tried it sprinkled on some roasted vegetables, like broccoli and potatoes. It gives them a fresh, zesty layer that's different from just using herbs. You can use a decent amount of it and it doesn't overpower the other flavors, but rather makes them pop. It's not a spicy heat, just a good, clean tang. This spice is pretty versatile. It works well in dry rubs or just dusted over a finished dish. It makes a good addition to my spice rack for when I want to add some Mediterranean or Middle Eastern flavor without a lot of fuss. It's one of those things that just quietly improves a lot of different meals.

Nice

I’ve been using this sumac as a finishing spice on salads, roasted vegetables, and grilled chicken, and it’s one of those ingredients that quietly improves a lot of meals. The flavor is bright and lemony with a slight berry-like tang, and it adds acidity without adding liquid, which is useful when you don’t want to water down a dish. Freshness seems good—color is vibrant and the aroma is noticeable right when you open the bag. I’ve mixed it into yogurt sauces and sprinkled it over hummus, and it gives that “restaurant” lift without needing much. The main caution is that sumac can vary in tartness by brand, and it can taste a bit dusty if you use too heavy a hand, so I start small and build. Packaging is functional, but I’d prefer a more rigid container for frequent use; I ended up transferring some to a spice jar. Overall, it’s best for everyday cooking if you enjoy Middle Eastern or Mediterranean flavors and want a versatile, long-term pantry spice that’s easy to reach for. This item is a good value for the money. Good quality

Delicious and fresh powder

Really nice pure sumac spice powder. It's not something I often have, but it was exactly what I imagined it to be. It's sour, like vinegar sour, or perhaps more like citrus sour, but it's tasty. It doesn't sting and hit the nose like actual vinegar, and there's a nice taste/flavor to it that I can't quite explain. It's really great on meat. I eat chicken breast all the time, and I'm looking for new ways to enjoy it, and this is really helping me out.I honestly don't have too much experience with this, but I can tell that it's very fresh; it really tastes like it. It's powder, but it's not too fine; it's really enough to keep the texture present on food.Overall, it smells citrusy and wonderful, fresh, and is a good value for the amount.

Fresh, Authentic, and Salt-Free – A New Kitchen Staple!

I had never used sumac before, but I’m so glad I tried this BAZARBUL brand. As soon as I opened the 4 oz resealable bag, the smell was absolutely delicious—very fresh and bright. I used it as part of a dry rub on baked chicken, and it came out wonderfully. It adds a unique, tangy flavor that really elevates a simple meal.QUALITY AND PURITY I love that this is 100% pure sumac with no salt added. A lot of other brands mix in salt as a filler, but this is authentic Turkish seasoning. It’s Organic and Non-GMO, which gives me peace of mind when I’m cooking for my family. The powder is vibrant and finely ground, making it easy to incorporate into rubs, dressings, or even as a garnish.PACKAGING The resealable bag is sturdy and actually works (sometimes those zippers can be finicky!). It keeps the spice fresh and makes it easy to store in a crowded spice cabinet.KEY TAKEAWAYS(+) Pure Flavor: No salt or fillers, just authentic sumac.(+) Great for Chicken: Adds a beautiful tang to dry rubs and marinades.(+) Fresh Aroma: Smells bright and citrusy as soon as you open it.(+) Healthy Choice: Organic and Non-GMO.This is a 5 out of 5 stars. For a first-time user, a spice that smells fresh and performs well in a dry rub is a home run. The fact that it’s salt-free and organic makes it a premium choice for a "pantry-friendly" price. Is the price justified at $9.99? Yes. While you can find bulk sumac for slightly less, $9.99 for 4 oz of organic, salt-free Turkish sumac is the sweet spot for home cooks. You’re paying for the purity and the convenience of a smaller, fresh bag rather than a giant container that might go stale before you can use it all.FINAL THOUGHTS If you’re looking to branch out from your usual spice routine, this sumac is a perfect place to start. It’s a high-quality, authentic product that delivers on flavor. I can’t wait to try it on fish or in a homemade salad dressing next!

BAZARBUL Pure Sumac Spice Powder

I really like sumac! Especially the tangy, lemony flavor it adds to meats, and this one delivers. It’s fresh, well-ground but not fine, and has that bright citrus kick without any added salt or fillers. It tastes great on grilled chicken and beef kebobs and it adds a nice pop without overpowering the meat. I wasn't a fan of the baggie it comes in. For starters it was not sealed and could be easily tampered with. The resealing is nice but this will do so much better in a glass jar that's air tight. The color on this sumac is deep, not bright as Ive seen in some kebab shops. Not sure which one is more authentic. Good price for this 4oz package.

Middle Eastern Paprika

This spice came very highly recommended, along with za'tar from a middle eastern friend but this is the first time I've tried the spice on it's own - in spite of it being natively found in north america, which is wild. The spice is a dull burgundy color and with a rough consistency of somewhere between crushed black pepper and corse salt. There is an earthy and ever so slightly fruity smell from the dried spice if you put your nose up to the bag but I consider the odor to be fairly subdued.I've been trying it in a variety of recipes and I find the flavour to match the scent in that it is subdued and can be drowned out by more spicy mixes. When used by itself, or with other spices in a more sparing way, you get a clear signal of a subtly tangy flavor with some residual acidity. In higher quantities, more of the fruitiness comes through. I've been using this fairly liberally in the same way that I might use a paprika. It seems to pair well with basically any warm food - or even salads - and since the flavor is more of a background note than an acute one, you can slowly build up the strength of it to the needs of whatever dish you're using it in.Overall I consider this spice to be a fruity, acidic paprika. You can do basically anything with it and it's very hard to over-use. I'm actually shocked this isn't a staple spice everywhere.

Great quality Sumac

This sumac powder brings a bright, tangy lift to dishes without overshadowing other flavors. The aroma when you open the bag is fresh and lemon‑like, and a light sprinkle adds just the right zip to salads, roasted veggies, and grilled meats. It dissolves easily and blends into dressings or marinades without clumping. The quality is great.I’ve used it on hummus and grain bowls, and it adds a subtle pop that makes the whole dish feel more vibrant. It’s especially nice on tomatoes and cucumbers, where that citrusy edge complements their natural sweetness. The flavor stays true rather than turning bitter or powdery, which means a little goes a long way before needing more. For the quantity you get, this feels like a worthwhile addition to the spice shelf. It enhances flavors in a way that keeps me reaching for it again, whether I’m cooking weeknight dinners or experimenting with new recipes. Good value.
